Flames fly on South Main Street in Castleton

CASTLETON — Late Wednesday afternoon, a fire broke out at 30 South Main Street in the village of Castleton.

By the sound of what could be heard from the 518 Sports offices with sirens galore, one expected the entire village to be on fire. Thankfully that couldn’t be any further from the truth.

The fire, which broke out on the back porch, was swiftly extinguished soon after firemen arrived.

Authorities did close a section of South Main Street for a brief time, but it has since been re-opened to the public.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and remains under investigation.
