SCHODACK — Four people were transported to the hospital by ambulance Friday afternoon following the collapse of a firework tent at the Pilot Flying J Travel Center located on Route 9, just north of I-90 exit 12, according to Schodack Police.

The tent, which police believe collapsed due to severe thunderstorms in the area, sold fireworks and sparklers for the upcoming fourth of July holiday.

Schodack Police officers were assisted by the New York State Police, South Schodack Fire Department, Castleton Volunteer Ambulance and Nassau  Volunteer Ambulance.

The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, which issues licenses for firework tents, also responded and will review the incident.
