Engineers Take Care of Business, Staying Undefeated

TROY, NY — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute women’s soccer team did what their football team couldn’t on Saturday, winning their home opener over Wilkes University, one-nil.

After a scoreless first half in which both teams combined for a total of , Stephanie May delivered a goal for the Engineers in the 59th minute, to make it a 1-0 game. This would prove to be all the engineers needed. “It was the only goal of the game, it helped us control the game,” said head coach Bre Nasypany.

It would be that goal combined with a strong performance from freshman goalkeeper Joey Lions, that gave the Engineers their third straight win of the season.  “She stepped up, she’s going to be good for us going down the road,” said her coach.

“It’s good to come out against a tough team and get a win,” said Nasypany.  The Engineers are home again on Friday, when they take on New Paltz at ECAV Stadium, at 4:00pm.
