David Nichols Honored on CoSIDA Academic All-District I Team

ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany sophomore guard David Nichols has been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I Team, the organization announced on Thursday.

This is Nichols’ first time earning CoSIDA All-Academic honors in his first year eligible.  This honor also nominates him for Academic All-America, which will be voted on starting next week.

On the court, Nichols is UAlbany’s leading scorer, earning 17 points and 3.3 assists a contest as the team’s starting point guard.  He is the team’s leader in steals with 39 and has scored double digit points in 24 out of 26 games played this season.

In the classroom, Nichols stands with a 3.88 GPA in communications, also minoring in history and business.  He is a three-time member of the UAlbany Dean’s List in as many semesters eligible.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that UAlbany has had a representative on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.  Nichols is one of seven Division I players across the Northeast to be selected to the District I team.
