It is that time of year again. Horse racing season is in full swing. This weekend kicks everything a horse owner dreams of, the run for the roses. First up on Friday is the 13 race card which is headlined by the Kentucky Oaks. Then on Saturday 20 three year old race horses will step into the gate for the 143rd Kentucky Derby.
A few notes for this year-
- I will be giving a race of the day pick as close to everyday through the week as possible.
- On weekends I will try and discuss a full card of races from one track or a few races from several tracks.
- I will also give a long shot play, value play, and best bet of the day each time I post.
- I will post all results from the races that I featured on my posts.
- At the end of every post you will find updated statistics on how my picks are doing on the track.
- Statistics will be based on the Top pick in each race and its winning % and a separate statistic for one of the top 3 horses I selected winning.
With all of that said, Good luck to everyone! Hopefully I will be able to help you make a good betting choice at the track.

Race 11- Post time @ 6:12 Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks Purse, $1,000,000
#14 Salty(6-1), #7 Farrell(5-1), #4 Paradise Woods(5-2)
Salty made a sustained run from the 5/8th’s pole all the way to the finish line and that was more impressive than the paper suggests. To me she is a big play at 6-1. Farrell has not had any competition to this point and she will need to improve on the Beyer scale however I think she will run a big one here. Lastly morning line favorite Paradise Woods who smashed the competition during the Santa Anita Oaks is my 3rd choice because I feel she will regress off of that win and this will allow the field to take a shot at her and I believe she will be in the lead at the eighth pole but fade to third late. Good luck in the Oaks!
Race 12- Post time @ 6:48
#1 Ministry(8-1), #5 Minnie Blip(5-1), #7 American Cleopatra(3-1)
Just a side note on American Cleopatra. She is American Pharoah’s full sister!
Race 13- Post time @ 7:23
#5 McCrmick(7-2), #4 Kitten’s Gold(5-2), # 10 Big Exchange(6-1)
Value Play– #14 Salty(6-1) in race 11

Longshot– #1 Ministry(8-1) in race 12
All set and ready to roll at Churchill for Friday’s Oaks card. Remember every winner is in the book and always cross the line first!
