‘Cats fall on the road at Auburn

AUBURN, NY —  After getting swept by the Hudson Valley Renegades over the weekend, the Tri-City ValleyCats were ready to hit the road for a three game set with the Auburn Doubledays.

A fresh start may have been what the ‘Cats were looking for, but they ended up falling deeper in the standings after a 2-0 loss to the Doubledays.

Following a scoreless first inning the Doubledays struck first in the bottom of the second.  With two outs Clayton Brandt singled on a line drive to center scoring Oliver Oritz, which put the ValleyCats in a 1-0 hole(still manageable).

The Doubledays piled on in the third, scoring another run.  At this point the ‘Cats were down 2-0, but with another six innings to play they were far from “out of it.”

Unfortunately the ‘Cats continued to struggle at the plate, failing to put up a single run.  They have only scored one run in their last 27 innings of work.

The two teams will play again tomorrow night in Auburn, at 7:05pm.
