Derek Carr won’t be driving the Raiders into the Super Bowl

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is out indefinitely for the remainder of the season after suffering a blow in Saturday’s 32-25 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Carr, 25, will undergo surgery at some point Christmas Day for what Jimmy Durkin of the Bay Area News Group is calling a broken fibula.

Following the incident, the no longer Pro Bowl bound QB took to Twitter to thank fans for their love and support:

For the first time in what seems like an eternity, the Raiders are actualy good this year and will make at least one appearance in the postseason. But without the services of Carr, the fairytale doesn’t look like it will end happily ever after.

Matt McGloin is expected to fill in for Carr for the remainder of the season. His first test will come next week when Oakland travels to take on the Denver Broncos, on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. The game is being televised nationally as CBS’ game of the week.
