Berne crash puts three in hospital, alcohol, and speed allegedly involved

BERNE, NY — Alcohol and speed are believed to have played a part in a Saturday morning crash that sent three to the hospital off Cole Hill Road in Berne, says Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple.

The crash, which occurred just after 10:00 a.m. threw two people from a red pickup truck after its driver failed to properly make a turn. It then hit a tree, barrel rolled through a field and hit another tree.

Two people are in critical condition, and a third is listed in serious condition.

According to the Albany Times Union, the Sheriff’s office has filed a warrant to draw blood to determine the driver’s Blood Alcohol content.

The identities of the crash victims have not yet been released.
