Benedetti brings home much needed victory for Tri-City

AUBURN, NY – In just his second game back in the lineup, Carmen Benedetti delivered two hits, two RBIs and a run to help the ‘Cats get their second straight win.

Benedetti first found success in the top of the 4th inning, when he doubled off of Carlos Acevedo scoring Rodrigo Ayarza.  The hit would put the ‘Cats on the board, and give them a 1-0 lead over the Doubledays. Before the inning was over Ronnie Dawson delivered a base hit to bring Benedetti home, and give the ValleyCats a 2-0 lead.

In the fifth, Benedetti gave the ‘Cats an insurance run, when he plated Gabriel Bracamonte.  In the bottom half of that same inning, Clayton Brandt scored to give Auburn a run, making it a two run ball game.

In the sixth, Tres Barrera gave the Auburn fans something to celebrate, when he delivered a solos shot to make it a one run game(2-3)

The next inning, the ValleyCats responded right away, when Rodrigo Ayarza singled to score Tyler Wolfe and put the ‘Cats up 4-2.

The Doubledays made it interesting in the ninth when Clayton Brandt scored, to make it once again a one run game(4-3), but that’s all Auburn had in the tank.

The ValeyCats come back home to Troy to host the Lowell Spinners for a three game set beginning tomorrow night, August 26, at 7:00 p.m., a series that will likely decide the ValleyCats playoff hopes.
