Beekmantown Girls Hockey outlasts Albany Academy in 4 overtimes, 4-3.

The Beekmantown Eagles girls ice hockey team won Saturday’s Upstate NY Sectional final playoff game against Albany Academy for Girls in overtime by a score of 4-3.  Kirsten Villemaire’s wrap around goal with 3:53 remaining in the fourth overtime session lifted the Eagles over the Bears in an instant classic game played at SUNY Plattsburgh’s Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.  Beekmantown’s Katie Matott had tied the contest with just 21.9 seconds remaining in regulation and forced the four 7.5 minute extra sessions. Beekmantown will now face Alexandria Bay from Section 3 on Friday evening at the NYSPHSAA Final Four, which is being played in Albany. Beekmantown’s goaltender Taylor Laurin accumulated 44 saves in the winning effort, while A.A.G.’s Rachel Peterson countered with 53 stops in a losing cause.   Albany Academy’s Hannah Tulchinsky, who had 2 assists, was named the league’s regular season MVP.  Her sister Natalie Tulchinsky scored two goals and had one assist for the Bears, who finished their season at  (10-6-2) and won the regular season crown.
