BASKETBALL: Girls’ Suburban Council Roundup

Colonie upset heavily favored Columbia with a narrow 57-54 win in a highly thrilling contest.  Alivia Paeglow led the Raiders with 17 pts and Colonie got some help from Sareena Dicerbo off the bench who had 11 pts of her own.  Despite top all star Selena Lott having 18 pts while playing sick and both Grace Heeps and Morgan Matthews in double figures as well, it wasn’t to be for the Lady Knights and Colonie got a much needed W.

Shaker defeated Shenendahowa 53-47 and got another great performance from Suburban Council all star and top scorer CeCe Mayo who had 18 pts.  Alexandra Tudor and Cameron Tooley led the Plainsmen with 14 and 10 pts.

Averill Park demolished Burnt Hills 72-22 with Stephanie Jankovic leading the way with 12 pts.  Lena Piche and Kathryn Stackrow also contributed with 10 pts each of their own.  The Lady Warriors saw 9 different players score in their blowout victory.

Bethlehem got a big win over Guilderland 72-59.  Emily Wander scored a whopping 26 pts and her teammate Molly Kirby had 18 pts.  Guilderland had its fair share of high scorers as well with Valencia Fontenelle Posson dropping 24 and Olivia Baumann helping with 15 pts too, but this game belonged to Bethlehem the whole way.

Troy was victorious over Albany 55-49 and was led by the leading scorer of the night in the Suburban, Sabrina Wolfe, who was on fire all night long 29 pts.  Shalie Frierson had an impactful 13 pts to help Troy prevail.  Albany’s only bright spot of the game was Hasijna Gaddy scoring 19 pts.  It was yet another wild night in the Suburban Council as the season nears its unfortunate end.
