Ballston Spa/Burnt Hills Lacrosse Poses Rematch of 2015 Semi’s

Tomorrow’s 518 lacrosse matchup between Ballston Spa and Burnt Hills is interesting for multiple reasons. First, it is a rematch of last season’s Class B Sectional semifinals, won by Burnt Hills. Second, each team has standout players looking to make an impact in Friday’s big game.

For Burnt Hills, they have a great set of scorers in Ben and Will Clark, who are twin brothers. Both have committed to play at Endicott College next season. Will ranks 10th in the Suburban Council with 8 goals this season, and has added 3 assists along with it. Ben has recorded 6 goals and 3 assists. The Spartans also include two other dangerous attackmen, with senior Josh FortinĀ (4 goals, 4 assists) and sophomore Mike Levan (3 goals, 3 assists). The midfield has weapons that can score as well, with senior Michael Leveroni (5 goals, 2 assists), freshman Darien LaPietro (3 goals, 1 assist), and junior Alec Lind (2 goals, 1 assist). In net, goalie Dan Biesty has stopped 64% of shots he’s faced this season, and allows an average of 5.3 goals per game. The Spartans are 2-1 this year (1-0 Suburban Council).

For Ballston Spa, they too have a dangerous offense, and feature a balanced offensive attack, led by Le Moyne commit Hans Zimmer (7 goals, 4 assists) and fellow senior Luke Richardson (6 goals, 4 assists). Sophomores Zac Schuette (7 goals, 2 assists), Joe McDonald (6 goals, 2 assists) and Alex Yerou (5 goals, 5 assists) have stepped up big time so far this season. Junior goalie Damien Randall has stopped 90% of shots he’s seen this season, and has allowed just 1 goal this year. The Scotties have allowed 2 goals in 2 games this season. The Scotties are 2-0 this season (2-0 Suburban Council).

It makes for an interesting matchup, especially considering the fact that the schools combine together for a hockey team. Sam Swingruber and Jon Rossetti (Ballston Spa) will face off against BHBS teammate Alec Lind (Burnt Hills). It should be a very competitive game, and a fun one to watch as well.
