Ballston Spa College Signing Day Highlights

Ballston Spa High School held their official signing & recognition ceremony for student-athletes today, honoring those who will be playing their respective sports in college.

Highlighting this day was Zach Durfee, who will be attending Siena to play baseball. Durfee was named the Suburban Council Player of the Year after being the ace pitcher and most reliable hitter for the Scotties, who went 15-5 this season. Another highlight was Hans Zimmer, who will be playing lacrosse at Le Moyne, who just won the Division 2 men’s lacrosse national championship on Sunday. Zimmer was 4th in Section 2 with 58 goals this season, and 8th with 35 assists. He led Ballston to a 12-7 record, and their first sectional final appearance since 2013. Connor DeFilippis also was honored, and he will be playing soccer at Fordham next season. DeFilippis scored 26 goals for the Scotties this season, and led them to a 20-1-1 record, and Section 2 title and a Regional title, and an appearance in the state championship game.

Other signees included Jack Fitzgerald (Binghamton, Track & Field), Jesse Haraden (Denver, Swimming & Diving), Kristina Keefe (Binghamton, Swimming & Diving), Rachel Parsons (Binghamton, Girls’ Soccer), and Aleah Abdellatif (Queens College, Girls’ Lacrosse).
