Aidan Joly’s bracketology: February 7

Another week gone in college hoops. We sit less than a month away from the start of conference tournaments now, and the season has been very unpredictable. Here is this week’s bracketology.

Biggest winner: The ‘Cuse are back in the hunt! After it seeming like this team was going to be out of it, they are now one of the hottest teams in the ACC, and have now notched four wins in a row, including two wins over top 10 teams in the span of a week, Florida State and Virginia. The Virginia win was Jim Boeheim’s 1000th* career victory, and that may carry over into some momentum towards the end of the year. They will play Tuesday night against Clemson, Saturday against Pittsburgh and then wrapping it up this week against Louisville on Monday night.

Biggest loser: Baylor may still be a virtual lock for the tournament, but they are slipping. They lost to Kansas last Wednesday, which is understandable, but had a bad home loss to Kansas State on Saturday, and fell to number six and out of a one seed. If they lose a few more games and slip to a three or four seed, they would be a candidate to be the victim of a first-round upset. They have three games this week; Oklahoma State on Wednesday, TCU on Saturday and Texas Tech on Monday.
