29 Dead after explosion outside Turkish soccer stadium

Istanbul, Turkey — 29 people were killed, and over 150 more were injured Saturday after a pair of explosions detonated outside Vodafone Arena nearly two hours after a match between Besiktas and Bursaspor, two of the countries best teams.

According to initial reporting by the BBC, many of those killed were law enforcement, but the arena was certainly not empty after the 2-1 home win for Besiktas.

A television crew captured the explosion while wrapping up post-game commentary:

Turkish interior minister Suleyman Soylu said that the government believes the incident was a terrorist attack on police, given the timing of the blast.

No terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
